Calling 02:55
Calling We’re all lookin’ for something better Something better than this Like a page full of secret letters You don’t know what it is But it’s calling, calling calling It’s calling, calling, calling out It’s calling, calling, calling out for you It’s the view from a broken window You can’t tell what ya see Like a child tryin’ to catch a shadow It’s always just out of reach But it’s calling, calling, calling It’s calling, calling, calling out It’s calling, calling, calling out for you Don’t close your eyes now Don’t turn and walk away Something’s telling you to stay It’s an answer without a question Something out of the blue But if you only learn to listen You will know what to do Cause it’s calling, calling, calling It’s calling, calling, calling out It’s calling, calling, calling out for you Ohh it’s calling, calling, calling It’s calling, calling, calling out It’s calling, calling, calling out for you

Damn You 03:53
Damn You Guess I always knew you were stronger Stronger than my mind and my bones A stupid kid playing with a monster Anything is better than being alone I was trying to let go of the old when you found me Hiding in the shadows fading, fading fast Nothing could replace the emptiness all around me All the time I wasted escaping the past Damn you for taking me over Damn you for the years in the dark Damn you for hurting my mother Damn you for the holes in my heart Saw me in the mirror pale and starving You told me to turn and look away I said we’re going to die, you said are we How bout we just take it through the day I was hearing voices from the walls in the bedroom Picking off the paint and looking for pieces of me Screaming at the world to let me out of this vacuum Begging you please, oh please just let me be Damn you for taking me over Damn you for the years in the dark Damn you for hurting my mother Damn you for the holes in my heart Holding ,holding, holding Broken, broken, broken Hoping ,hoping, hoping Broken, broken, broken Holding ,holding, holding Broken, broken, broken Hoping, hoping, hoping Broken, broken, broken Damn you for taking me over Damn you for the years in the dark Damn you for hurting my mother Damn you for the holes in my heart Damn you for the holes in my hear

Home 03:26
Home (Baywud & Rune Westberg) 5 thousand miles on a road going nowhere Lost in the house where you used to belong Walking through pictures like movies of strangers The place is still here but the memories moved on This is your home And it’s missing you A call from an airport, a soul stuck in transit In between lines of a story untold It starts at the ending and ends where you’re starting Just water the seeds and the flowers will grow This is your home And it’s missing you The flowers will grow The flowers will grow When the memories come home The flowers will grow This is your home And it’s missing you

about

“Home” shows us another intimate, more personal side of BAYWUD.
The EP includes three songs; ‘Calling’, ‘Damn You’, and ‘Home’ and has one common theme throughout, which is this idea of feeling lost and broken, all the while searching for your way back home.

The first song, “Calling” is a piano heavy tune that offers beautiful lyrical imagery painting pictures of; ‘a page filled with secret letters’, ‘a child chasing their own shadow’, and ‘viewing life through broken windows’. The song is about being in a dark place, not knowing where to go or what to do, but hearing that voice in your head that’s tirelessly trying to help you find your way back to the good place.

The second track “Damn You” was inspired by the artist’s past struggles with depression and drug addiction. It’s BAYWUD’s letter to the enemy. He explains that “it was one of the most difficult songs to write and record. I had to go back to such a dark place, a place that I had worked very hard to forget. I broke down a few times during the writing/recording process, but ultimately it was very liberating for me.” The song starts with acoustic guitar for the first half of the song, introducing beautifully incorporated cellos, played by Ro Rowan from the second verse through to the end.

The EP closes with “Home”, a song written for a friend, who lost her mom during the pandemic. It brought up the idea of home, something we all search for and need in our life; a place to feel at home, a place where love thrives, a place where all the worries seem to fade away.
